Before I start telling you about my weekend routine most college students don’t have a routine as they go normally unplanned. Am just a part of the few minority that plans most of what I do.

College weekends are normally Saturdays and Sundays however for many the so-called free time actually starts from Friday. You have heard it before that there is nothing such as a free day or free time in college but it actually does exist.

Seeing I only have one class on a Friday my weekend somewhat starts on the Friday depending on what it is that I have to do. Here goes with my college weekend routine. I hope you like it.

Friday

I only have one class on a Friday. I have the rest of the day to get the most I can done. The day is subject to the things that I have to do. Below is a list of possible things that will be on a Friday for me to get done.

It may be one Friday or the other that I find these activities take me up until the regular 5:00 pm.

  • Go to class at 9:30-11:00 am
  • Attend group meetings for class presentation
  • Carry out a class project with my classmates
  • Meet for singing rehearsal for the church choir.
  • Meet to plan a play for an upcoming church event.

I see it is still packed with things for me to do however when I don’t have much to do after class I would have half of the day for myself to do whatever I want. If I have none of these activities after class I would do these things listed below.

  • Get some good sleep
  • Go shopping for groceries in the town
  • Cook myself a decent dinner.
  • Do a manicure, pedicure and facial at home.
  • Wash and style my hair- this usually last for the week.

Saturday

Saturdays are my favorite days because it is the Sabbath. I don’t do anything but go to church. So in the morning I get up at 7 am not 2:50 like the other days of the week.

Well, I do wake at my normal time but I don’t get out of bed. I sometimes fall back asleep or I read my bible study lesson.

9:15-12:30

The next thing I do is to have breakfast and get ready for church which starts at 9:15 am. Once I go to church most times I stay at church all day in worship. When the service ends at 12:30 I would have lunch with my friends and talk about something interesting for the lunch period.

I may even go and visit someone I know is sick, I haven’t seen at church for some time or just enjoy the evening relaxing. At times I may go home for lunch and then go back in the evening for service. I would get a quick nap during the lunch period.

3:30-6:00

Church resumes at 3:30 where we have bible study and then a program put on by the Adventist youths. This is normally a great aspect where the young people get to lead out. Church ends at sunset which most times where I live is between 5 pm and 6 pm.

6:00-8:00 pm

Now I would head home and make myself something to eat. Sometimes I would get ready and go hang out with friends in the town. There are nice places we can visit or we might do a sleepover (end of a semester). There are lots of parties on weekends however I am not a party person.

If I stay home I would start prepping the items for making my Sunday dinner like blending the coconut for milk, soaking my peas or ensuring my chicken is well seasoned.

Sunday

My Sundays are normally packed to capacity. This is the time that I do all my housework and get organized for the coming school days. I use Saturday nights to plan what will be done on Sundays.

Sometimes I would put my recreation in the evenings and everything gets pushed up on my schedule. Below is how I schedule my Sundays.

If you have not seen in detail how my early morning routine, daily school routine or night routine goes you can check that out.

2:50-3:00 am. Wake up

3:00-4:00 am. Have Devotion

4:00-5:00 am. Book Ideas/Reading

5:10-6:10 am. Blogging

6:15-7:30 am. Go play tennis with my friends or shoot hoops. This is the time I engage in some recreation. Early in the morning is preferred depending on what is planned. I may also go to the beach or waterfall with my friends.

7:30-8:00 am Head home

8:00-8:30 am Have a heavy Breakfast

8:30-10:30 am Have a shower and do my Laundry. I manually do my laundry so this actually takes some time as they will also be left to dry on the outdoors.

10:30-12:00 am Study my books for tests, exams or assignments.

12:00-12:30 pm Have a light Lunch

12:30-1:30 pm Cook my dinner the traditional Jamaican way on a Sunday. Rice and peas and chicken with lots of vegetables. I also love to blend juices and make shakes that I would store in the refrigerator and take to school in the week.

1:30-2:30 pm Clean my entire quarters. This is when I turn on the music and get the place squeaky clean. It only takes an hour as doing this every week makes it easy to clean.

2:30-3:00 pm Have another shower.

3:00-3:30 pm Have my dinner

3:30-4:00 pm Iron my clothes for the week ahead. I would take out seven suits to wear for the week. I take out one for going to church and an extra suit for going to school just in case I feel like wearing something else one morning.

4:00-6:00 pm Free Time- Watch movies, Play a game or chat with my boyfriend. We may go out or I may attend a function that is being held. My BF is usually over from 3:00 pm or before that if he decides to cook for me. I may go to his place some Sundays at this time.

6:00-7:00 pm Study my books for exams or assignment. This is not a must but if I really have some test coming up I would revise with my BF as he quizzes me with questions from the text or cards I have studying.

7:00-8:00 pm Attend church worship service.

8:00-2:50 Bedtime
