There is much more to college that rolling out of bed and getting to class. It can be very hard to stick to a routine. The morning is the most productive part of my day and I usually get a lot done this time.

This is pretty much my daily routine for this period of the semester. This is a routine that I would use five days out of the week or what most persons see as the major school or work days.

I know that we have morning persons who wake up late (9 am) and those who cannot even eat too early. This is my personal Morning Routine and I hope you will find some useful ideas when creating one of your own.

2:50-3:00 am. Wake up

Waking up is pretty easy for me seeing that my body is now accustomed to getting out of bed. I would have been rested enough seeing I go to bed at 8 pm the previous night.

Seven hours per night and getting most of it before 12 midnight makes this easy. Before being accustomed to doing this I would struggle and stay lying there and fall asleep after the alarm. I use this 10 minutes to spread my bed.

3:00-4:00 am. Devotion

This is a very important aspect of my life and is pretty much the first thing I would do before I start any work for the day. It is about giving God thanks that I am able to see the start of a new day.

In this time I would sing Christian songs, read the Bible, read a devotional that I like or spend time studying a topic regarding my Christian faith. Worship is the highest praise and dedicating an hour of my morning to the creator of the universe is not much time.

A time to talk to God in prayer in the quietness of the morning undisturbed by the noise of everyday activities is ideal. Reflecting on life, my purpose, my dreams and God’s will for me in this moment is important.

 4:00-5:00 am. Book Ideas/Reading

During this time I would write a page on any book it is that I am working on. Writing a book requires a lot of thinking and no rush.

If I need to do some research on what it is that am writing about, I may spend the time reading so as to expand my knowledge.

This aspect is just about creativity and thinking outside the box. I find this method useful as I have been saying for the longest time I am gonna write a book and never started.

Dedicating one hour in the morning when the brain is fresh and strengthened allows me to focus and think.

5:10-6:10 am. Blogging

A big part of my life is blogging and putting out articles for my readers daily. I invest one hour of my morning to start writing an article. I start writing a new topic and put down the core aspects of what I am writing about.

Sometimes it may take a little more than an hour and I would use some of my free time at school to finish it up and publish. I normally do 5 posts for the week.

6:15-7:15 am. Assignment

I would spend 5 minutes to check my school emails, WhatsApp groups and other chats that am apart of and give a response. I know that no college work takes an hour to do and so this time is for getting a head start in my assignment.

The average assignment will take me 2 1/2 hours there about to complete and this does not include projects or research papers.

In my free time at school or when I get home I would do some more work on it. The aim is to get an assignment done each day so they do not pile up for the last minute.

7:20-7:50 am. Exercise

A thirty minutes workout in my room or on the outdoors is very good. I would most times seek to get some fresh air on the outside.

I only exercise five days of the week. I may do this sometimes with my housemate since they are up by this time of the morning.

Am a slim thing and have nothing to lose. Just want to keep the body fit and in good shape. I enjoy skipping and jogging.

When I stay on the indoors I would do a quick workout with one of my favorite fitness programs on YouTube.

This is normally 10-15 minutes so I would have the other 15 minutes to cool down. I do get a lot done in 10-15 minutes workout.  It is small steps that add to a big gain.

After exercise, I would drink some room temperature water to help the body to cool down quicker. I would then take ten minutes to relax before hitting the shower.

7:50-8:30 am. Get Ready

Getting ready does not take very long when there is simplicity. I don’t use makeup so there is no need for me to spend lots of time in the mirror.

It is just about heading to the bathroom to have a shower, and get dress. My clothes would have been prepared from the weekend and hanging in the closet.

My hair most times last for a week and does not need combing every day as it is braided.

Breakfast is not always a heavy one but I ensure that I have it before I go. Sometimes it is some leftovers from dinner, some porridge, sandwiches, chocolate tea, herbal tea or some other cereal. Breakfast is normally something that will not take me more than 10 minutes to prepare.

My bag is usually packed overnight so it is heading through the door for me. Essentials such as my water, my phone, notebooks, pen, room keys, my purse with money to get lunch and especially my school ID are there.

8:30-9:00 am Travel to Class

Travelling to school is a thirty minutes walk or five minutes drive to get on campus. I walk it every day and is early for the most part.

I normally feel great walking to school as I have gotten a lot accomplished already through my morning routine.  I am able to get a productive headstart for the day.

I will be in class for the entire rest of the day. You can read about my daily routine habits at school, night routine after school or weekend routine and how they actually work for me.
